Who is defined as an “Author” under the law?

  An author is specifically recognized as the natural person who has created a literary or artistic work. This definition is found in Section 171.1 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. It is a fundamental concept because copyright ownership generally starts with the individual creator.
