What specific circumstances involving motive, force of nature, or calamity qualify a killing as Murder?
A killing is qualified as Murder if it is done in consideration of a price, reward, or promise (Article 248, Revised Penal Code). The use of certain destructive means also qualifies the act, such as by means of inundation, fire, poison, explosion, shipwreck, stranding of a vessel, derailment or assault upon a railroad, or fall of an airship. Furthermore, the use of motor vehicles or any other means involving great waste and ruin is a qualifying circumstance. Finally, committing the killing on occasion of a calamity listed previously, or an earthquake, volcano eruption, destructive cyclone, epidemic, or other public calamity also elevates the crime to Murder.
