What penalty applies if a conditional Grave threat is made, but the offender fails to attain their purpose?
If the offender makes a conditional grave threat but does not attain their purpose (i.e., fails to get the money or secure the condition), the penalty is further reduced (Article 282, Revised Penal Code). In this specific scenario, the penalty imposed shall be lower by two degrees than that prescribed by law for the crime threatened to be committed. This reduction reflects the failed outcome of the criminal’s extortionate demands.
