What is the penalty for inflicting less serious physical injuries upon one’s parents or a person in authority?

If less serious physical injuries are inflicted upon the offender’s parents, ascendants, guardians, curators, teachers, or persons of rank, or persons in authority, the penalty is increased (Article 265, Revised Penal Code). The offender shall be punished by prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods. A crucial stipulation is that, in the case of persons in authority, the deed must not constitute the crime of assault upon such person, which would be a separate, more serious offense.
