When are Less serious physical injuries considered aggravated, requiring an additional fine?

Less serious physical injuries are considered aggravated whenever they shall have been inflicted with the manifest intent to kill or offend the injured person (Article 265, Revised Penal Code). Aggravation also applies if the injuries were inflicted under circumstances that add ignominy (disgrace) to the offense. In addition to the penalty of arresto mayor, a fine not exceeding Fifty thousand pesos (P50,000) shall be imposed when the injury is inflicted under these aggravated circumstances.
