What is the offense and penalty for a person entrusted with a minor’s rearing who delivers the minor to a public institution without consent?
The offense is Abandonment of minor by person entrusted with custody (Article 277, Revised Penal Code). This applies to anyone having charge of the rearing or education of a minor who delivers the minor to a public institution or other persons. The act is criminal if done without the consent of the person who entrusted the child, or without the consent of the proper authorities in the absence of the entrustor. The penalty imposed is arresto mayor and a fine not exceeding One hundred thousand pesos (P100,000).
