What is the consequence of reconciliation on a final decree of legal separation?

Reconciliation brings an immediate legal halt to the previous court judgments separating the spouses. If the decree was final, the final decree of legal separation shall be completely set aside by the court. The spouses are once again legally bound to live together and support each other as a married couple. This positive legal consequence is clearly outlined in Article 66 Family Code of the Philippines. “Art. 66. The reconciliation referred to in the preceding Article shall have the following consequences: … (2) The final decree of legal separation shall be set aside, but the separation of property and any forfeiture of the share of the guilty spouse already effected shall subsist, unless the spouses agree to revive their former property regime.” 31-Jul-26
