What is a “work of applied art”?

  A work of applied art is an artistic creation that possesses utilitarian functions or is incorporated into a useful article. Section 171.10 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines states these can be made by hand or produced industrially. While artistic in nature, they serve a practical purpose in everyday use. They are protected as part of the literary and artistic domain under the Code.   “171.10.
