What formal requirements must a petition for cancellation of a patent satisfy?

A petition for cancellation must be written, verified, and supported by evidence. Section 62, Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, requires that the petition be in writing, verified by the petitioner or someone with knowledge of the facts, specify the grounds, and include a statement of facts relied upon. Copies of printed publications, foreign patents, and other supporting documents, with English translations if needed, must be attached. These formalities ensure that cancellation actions are grounded in concrete, reviewable evidence.   21-Dec-25
