How are patentees and other interested parties notified of a petition for cancellation and hearing?

Notice mechanisms ensure due process in cancellation proceedings. Section 63, Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, mandates that upon filing a petition, the Director of Legal Affairs shall serve notice of the filing and the date of hearing upon the patentee and all persons with recorded grants, licenses, or interests, as well as the petitioner. It also requires that notice of the filing be published in the IPO Gazette. This guarantees that all affected parties are informed and given a chance to participate.   21-Dec-25
