What are the requirements for an application for the registration of a collective mark?

An application for a collective mark must explicitly designate the mark as such and include a copy of the agreement governing its use. The registered owner is further required to notify the Director of any subsequent changes made to that governing agreement. Section 167.2 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines ensures that the use of these marks remains transparent and controlled by established rules. Collective marks are unique as they represent a group rather than a single commercial entity. “167.2. (a) An application for registration of a collective mark shall designate the mark as a collective mark and shall be accompanied by a copy of the agreement”   January 7, 2026
