What actions constitute the crime of Slavery, and what is the penalty?

The crime of Slavery is committed by anyone who shall purchase, sell, kidnap, or detain a human being for the express purpose of enslaving them (Article 272, Revised Penal Code). This offense is severely penalized, aimed at eliminating involuntary servitude and human trafficking. The prescribed penalty for Slavery is prision mayor and a fine of not exceeding 10,000 pesos.
