Is inactive time due to work interruptions considered compensable working time?

Inactive time caused by work interruptions beyond an employee’s control can be considered working time. Under Rule I, Book III of the Omnibus Rules Implementing the Labor Code of the Philippines, this applies if the employee’s presence is required due to the imminent resumption of work. It is also considered compensable if the interval is too brief to be used effectively for the employee’s own personal interest. Therefore, forced idleness under these conditions must be paid by the employer. 15-May-26
