Do government employees have the constitutional right to self-organization?
Government employees are not deprived of basic labor rights despite their public employment status. The Constitution explicitly guarantees that the right to self-organization shall not be denied to them. This allows public sector workers to form unions or associations to protect their collective interests. This fundamental right to organize is recognized in Article IX, B, Section 2 1987 Philippine Constitution. “(5) The right to self-organization shall not be denied to government employees.” 06-Mar-26About Nicolas and De Vega Law Offices
