Who serves as the exclusive representative for collective bargaining?

Collective bargaining operates on the foundational principle of majority rule within a defined appropriate unit. The labor organization that is designated or selected by the majority of the employees in an appropriate collective bargaining unit shall hold exclusive rights. It legally becomes the sole and exclusive representative of all the employees in such unit for the purpose of collective bargaining. This exclusive representation mandate is established in Article 267 Labor Code of the Philippines. “ART. 267. Exclusive Bargaining Representation and Workers’ Participation in Policy and Decision-Making. – The labor organization designated or selected by the majority of the employees in an appropriate collective bargaining unit shall be the exclusive representative of the employees in such unit for the purpose of collective bargaining.” 01-Jun-26
