When is a special election called for the offices of President and Vice-President?
A special election is necessary if both the presidency and vice-presidency become vacant simultaneously. Congress must convene and enact a law calling for this election within a specific timeframe. The election must be held between forty-five and sixty days after the call is made. However, no special election is called if the vacancy occurs near the end of the term. Article VII Section 10 1987 Philippine Constitution “SECTION 10.
