When does a broadcast qualify for protection under the Act?
Broadcasts are protected if the broadcasting organization has its headquarters situated in the Philippines. Protection also extends to broadcasts transmitted from transmitters located within the country. This applies to various forms of transmission originating from Philippine soil. These rules are found in Section 224.1 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. “SEC. 224. Points of Attachment for Broadcasts. – 224.1.
