What is the strict legal definition of premium pay under the current labor rules?

According to Articles 91-93 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, premium pay specifically refers to the legally required additional compensation provided to an employee for specialized work. It specifically and legally applies to labor physically performed within a standard eight-hour shift on scheduled rest days and declared special days. Unlike regular standard overtime, this unique premium compensates the worker for the severe inconvenience of working on days normally reserved for personal rest or special societal observance. Providing this additional specialized percentage on top of the basic wage is a strict legal requirement. 15-May-26
