What is the residency requirement for Senators?

What is the residency requirement for Senators?   Candidates for the Senate must be residents of the Philippines for a minimum period. They must have resided in the country for at least two years immediately preceding the day of the election. This ensures that the candidate is familiar with the national situation and the needs of the people. This residency rule is found in Article VI, Section 3 1987 Philippine Constitution.   “SECTION 3. No person shall be a Senator unless he is a natural-born citizen of the Philippines, and, on the day of the election, is at least thirty-five years of age, able to read and write, a registered voter, and a resident of the Philippines for not less than two years immediately preceding the day of the election.”   01-Feb-26
