What is the penalty for the parents of a pregnant woman who cause an abortion with her consent to conceal her dishonor?
If the crime is committed by the parents of the pregnant woman, or either of them, and they act with her consent for the purpose of concealing her dishonor, they shall suffer the penalty of prision correccional in its medium and maximum periods (Article 258, Revised Penal Code). This penalizes parental involvement in abortion, even with the daughter’s consent, when the motive is to hide the pregnancy. It is important to note that this penalty is the same as the general penalty for a woman practicing abortion on herself without the mitigating factor of dishonor.
