What is the effect of a subsequent valid marriage between the offender and the offended party in a case of Rape?

The subsequent valid marriage between the offender and the offended party shall legally extinguish the criminal action or the penalty previously imposed (Article 266-C, Revised Penal Code). This provision allows for the cessation of legal proceedings based on reconciliation through marriage. However, this rule does not apply if the marriage is found to be void ab initio, meaning void from the beginning.
