What is a double regular holiday and how is it compensated if unworked?

A double regular holiday occurs when two legally mandated regular holidays fall on the exact same date, as strictly governed by Article 94 of the Labor Code of the Philippines. If an eligible employee does not work on this exceedingly rare chronological occurrence, the employer must legally pay 200% of the employee’s basic wage. This calculation effectively grants 100% baseline compensation for each overlapping legal holiday independently. The worker simply enjoys the single day off while legally receiving the financial equivalent of two full days’ pay. 15-May-26
