  Imported merchandise that copies or simulates the name of a domestic product, manufacturer, or dealer is barred from entry. Additionally, any goods bearing marks calculated to induce the false belief that they were manufactured in the Philippines or an incorrect foreign locality are prohibited. Section 166 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines empowers the Bureau of Customs to enforce this ban to protect local industry and consumers. This prevents the entry of deceptive or infringing products into the domestic market,. “SEC. 166. Goods Bearing Infringing Marks or Trade Names. – No article of imported merchandise which shall copy or simulate the name of any domestic product… shall be admitted to entry”   January 7, 2026
