What happens to goods that are marked or labeled with false designations of origin?

Goods that are marked or labeled in violation of the rules against false designation of origin are prohibited from entering the Philippines. Such items will not be admitted entry at any customhouse in the country. Section 169.2 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines provides that owners or importers of such refused goods may have recourse under customs revenue laws. This provides a strong border enforcement mechanism to keep deceptive products out of the local market. “169.2. Any goods marked or labeled in contravention of the provisions of this Section shall not be imported into the Philippines or admitted entry”   January 7, 2026
