What constitutes Serious physical injuries resulting in complete loss of mental capacity, and what is the corresponding penalty?
Serious physical injuries are those inflicted when a person wounds, beats, or assaults another, and the consequence is grave harm (Article 263, Revised Penal Code). If, as a result of the physical injuries inflicted, the injured person shall become insane, imbecile, impotent, or blind, the offense is classified under subdivision 1. The maximum penalty prescribed for this most severe outcome of serious physical injuries is prision mayor.
