What are the size limits for Filipino citizens acquiring or leasing alienable public lands?
The Constitution provides specific size limitations for individual citizens who wish to hold alienable public lands. A citizen of the Philippines is permitted to lease an area not exceeding five hundred hectares of such lands. If they wish to acquire the land by purchase, homestead, or grant, the limit is set much lower. Specifically, they may acquire not more than twelve hectares of alienable public land under Article XII, Section 3, 1987 Philippine Constitution. “Citizens of the Philippines may lease not more than five hundred hectares, or acquire not more than twelve hectares thereof by purchase, homestead, or grant.” 22-Mar-26About Nicolas and De Vega Law Offices
