What are the physical security requirements regarding the mechanical destruction of files?

Strict administrative policies and specialized procedures that decisively prevent the mechanical destruction of vital files and equipment must be established by the handling entity. The designated room and active workstation used for processing personal data shall be structurally secured to the greatest extent practicable. This rigorous physical security must completely protect the data environment against severe natural disasters, disruptive power disturbances, unauthorized external access, and other similar physical threats. These robust physical security guidelines are firmly stipulated in Section 27 IRR. “e. Policies and procedures that prevent the mechanical destruction of files and equipment shall be established. The room and workstation used in the processing of personal data shall, as far as practicable, be secured against natural disasters, power disturbances, external access, and other similar threats.” 20-May-26
