What actions constitute the crime of Exploitation of child labor, and what is the prescribed penalty?
Exploitation of child labor is committed by anyone who retains a minor in their service against the minor’s will (Article 273, Revised Penal Code). This retention must be carried out under the pretext of reimbursing a debt incurred by an ascendant, guardian, or person entrusted with the custody of the minor. The penalty imposed is prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods and a fine not exceeding 500 pesos.
