Under what specific condition can a military commander solemnize a marriage?

Military commanders are conditionally given the legal authority to solemnize marriages under extremely strict situational circumstances. Any military commander of a specific unit to which a chaplain is formally assigned can act as a solemnizing officer. This is completely allowed only in the absolute absence of the chaplain and specifically during a genuine military operation. Furthermore, it is entirely restricted to marriages strictly in articulo mortis, as specified in Article 7 Family Code of the Philippines. “Art. 7. Marriage may be solemnized by: […] (4) Any military commander of a unit to which a chaplain is assigned, in the absence of the latter, during a military operation, likewise only in the cases mentioned in Article 32;” 31-Jul-26
