Is a confession obtained through violence admissible as evidence?

Any confession or admission that is obtained through the use of force or intimidation is not legally valid. Such evidence is considered inadmissible against the person in any legal proceeding. This rule serves to discourage the use of illegal tactics during investigations and interrogations. As stated in Article III Section 12 1987 Philippine Constitution, confessions must be voluntary to be used in court.   “(3) Any confession or admission obtained in violation of this or Section 17 hereof shall be inadmissible in evidence against him.”   28-Jan-26
