How is an information and communications system defined?

An information and communications system refers to a technical system used for generating, sending, receiving, storing, or otherwise processing electronic data messages or electronic documents. It prominently includes the computer system or other similar electronic devices by which data is actively recorded, transmitted, or stored. Furthermore, it encompasses any procedure related to the recording, transmission, or storage of such electronic data or messages. This broad technological definition is located in Section 3 Data Privacy Act. “(f) Information and Communications System refers to a system for generating, sending, receiving, storing or otherwise processing electronic data messages or electronic documents and includes the computer system or other similar device by or which data is recorded, transmitted or stored and any procedure related to the recording, transmission or storage of electronic data, electronic message, or electronic document.” 22-May-26
