How is a vacancy in the office of the chief archbishop or presiding elder of a corporation sole filled?
The successors in office of any chief archbishop, bishop, priest, minister, rabbi, or presiding elder shall become the corporation sole on their accession to office (SEC. 112, Revised Corporation Code of the Philippines). They are then permitted to transact business as the corporation sole upon filing a copy of their SEC, certificate of election, or letters of appointment with the SEC, duly certified by any notary public. During any period of vacancy, the person or persons authorized by the rules and discipline of the religious denomination shall exercise all the powers and authority of the corporation sole, ensuring continuity of management and administration of temporalities.
