How are serious physical injuries that result in deformity or prolonged incapacity for more than 90 days penalized?
If the physical injuries result in the injured person becoming deformed, or if they lose any other part of their body or the use thereof, the penalty is prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods (Article 263, Revised Penal Code). This penalty also applies if the person has been ill or incapacitated for the performance of their habitual work for a period exceeding ninety days. This classification covers injuries causing permanent disfigurement or very lengthy recovery.
