How are mistakes of the IPO in an issued patent corrected?

Mistakes attributable to the IPO can be corrected without fee. Section 57, Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, empowers the Director to correct, without fee, any mistake in a patent incurred through the fault of the Office when clearly disclosed in its records, to make the patent conform to those records. This provision ensures that clerical or administrative errors by the Office do not unfairly disadvantage patentees or the public. Corrections are limited to aligning the patent with what is actually reflected in the official records.   21-Dec-25
