How are international agreements integrated into Philippine copyright protection?

The provisions of the Act apply to works that must be protected according to international conventions. If the Philippines is a party to such an agreement, those foreign works receive local protection. This ensures compliance with global intellectual property standards. This integration is specified in Section 221.2 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.   “221.2. The provisions of this Act shall also apply to works that are to be protected by virtue of and in accordance with any international convention… to which the Philippines is a party.”   January 8, 2026
