Does a data subject have the right to correct inaccurate personal information?
A data subject is fully and legally entitled to actively dispute any inaccuracy or error found within their stored personal information. Upon receiving such a valid dispute, the personal information controller must carefully correct the flawed data immediately, unless the request is vexatious or unreasonable. Once corrected, the controller must ensure that both the newly corrected and retracted information remain accessible for verification. The controller is also obligated to simultaneously notify third parties who previously received the incorrect data as stipulated in Section 16 Data Privacy Act. “(d) Dispute the inaccuracy or error in the personal information and have the personal information controller correct it immediately and accordingly, unless the request is vexatious or otherwise unreasonable.
