Can a union officer ask for attorney’s fees from the employer during collective bargaining settlement?

Seeking personal or organizational financial gain from dispute settlements severely compromises the union’s integrity. It is considered an unfair labor practice for a union to ask for or accept negotiation or attorney’s fees from employers. This applies when the payment is framed as part of the settlement of any issue in collective bargaining or any other dispute. This ethical prohibition is firmly established in Article 260 Labor Code of the Philippines. “(e) To ask for or accept negotiation or attorney’s fees from employers as part of the settlement of any issue in collective bargaining or any other dispute;” 01-Jun-26
