Who can be married by a military commander in a zone of military operation?

A military commander can officiate a marriage for specific individuals located within a military zone. The parties getting married can either be members of the armed forces or civilians. This is legally permitted under Article 32 Family Code of the Philippines. However, the marriage must be performed in articulo mortis to be considered valid. “Art. 32. A military commander of a unit who is a commissioned officer, shall likewise have authority to solemnize marriages in articulo mortis between persons within the zone of military operation, whether members of the armed forces or civilians.” 31-Jul-26
