Who are considered natural-born citizens?
Natural-born citizens are those who are citizens from birth without having to perform any act to acquire citizenship. They do not need to perfect their citizenship through any legal procedure. Those who elect citizenship after being born to Filipino mothers before 1973 are also deemed natural-born. According to Article IV Section 2 1987 Philippine Constitution, this status is important for certain public offices. “SECTION 2. Natural-born citizens are those who are citizens of the Philippines from birth without having to perform any act to acquire or perfect their Philippine citizenship. Those who elect Philippine citizenship in accordance with paragraph (3), Section 1 hereof shall be deemed natural-born citizens.” 28-Jan-26About Nicolas and De Vega Law Offices
