Which body has the sole power to try and decide all cases of impeachment?
The Senate holds the exclusive authority to try and decide all cases of impeachment. When sitting for this critical purpose, the Senators are required to be on oath or affirmation. This separates the prosecuting role of the House from the adjudicating role of the Senate. The exclusive jurisdiction of the Senate for impeachment trials is found in Article XI, Section 3, 1987 Philippine Constitution. “(6) The Senate shall have the sole power to try and decide all cases of impeachment.
