What rank and salary are granted to the Ombudsman and his Deputies?

The Ombudsman and his Deputies are granted the rank of Chairman and Members, respectively, of the Constitutional Commissions. Consequently, they shall receive the same salary as those officials to reflect their equivalent status. To protect their independence, this salary cannot be decreased during their term of office. These protections regarding their rank and compensation are secured by Article XI, Section 10, 1987 Philippine Constitution. “SECTION 10. The Ombudsman and his Deputies shall have the rank of Chairman and Members, respectively, of the Constitutional Commissions, and they shall receive the same salary, which shall not be decreased during their term of office.” 06-Mar-26
