What are the legal remedies against an innocent printer of infringing materials?

If an infringer is solely engaged in the business of printing and acted innocently, the remedies available against them are strictly limited. The owner of the infringed right is only entitled to an injunction to prevent the future printing of the infringing materials. Section 159.2 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines provides this protection to service providers who may not know the legal status of the items they print. This prevents innocent third-party businesses from being hit with heavy financial damages for their client’s infringement. “159.2. Where an infringer who is engaged solely in the business of printing the mark or other infringing materials for others is an innocent infringer, the owner… shall be entitled… only to an injunction”   January 7, 2026
