What are the age and residence requirements for suffrage?

Suffrage can be exercised by Filipino citizens who are at least eighteen years of age. They must have resided in the Philippines for at least one year before the election. Furthermore, they must have lived in the place where they propose to vote for at least six months. According to Article V Section 1 1987 Philippine Constitution, these are the basic requirements to vote.   “SECTION 1. Suffrage may be exercised by all citizens of the Philippines not otherwise disqualified by law, who are at least eighteen years of age, and who shall have resided in the Philippines for at least one year and in the place wherein they propose to vote for at least six months immediately preceding the election.”   28-Jan-26
