Is there a limit to reduced statutory damages for innocent infringers?
When an infringer has no reason to believe they were violating a copyright, damages can be significantly reduced. The court may lower the award to a sum of not more than Ten thousand pesos (Php10,000.00). This reduction recognizes the lack of intent or negligence on the part of the defendant.
