Is private reproduction of a published work permitted?
Private reproduction in a single copy is permitted when made by a natural person for research or private study. Section 187.1 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines allows this without the author’s authorization. This provides individuals the freedom to study published materials privately. However, this permission does not extend to entire books or computer programs. “SEC. 187. Reproduction of Published Work. – 187.1.
