This article talks about the process to have a company registered with the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA).

Registering your Company with PEZA

Enterprises located in special economic zones are given various incentives in order to attract investors in the Philippines. The government agency tasked with the registration of companies in special economic zones is the Philippine Export Zone Authority or PEZA.

Although one has heard of horror stories regarding bureaucratic red tape plaguing the Philippine government, there is a government agency which stands out as an exception – that is PEZA.  PEZA is one of the most professional government agencies in the Philippines and is known for its efficiency and competency in client transactions. For this reason, registering your company with PEZA is truly a pleasant experience.

The process begins with the submission of the application form together with the pertinent requirements (please see our separate article on the documentary requirements needed for PEZA registration) with the Office of the Director General of PEZA.  Upon receipt thereof, the Enterprise Regulation Department of PEZA will evaluate the application.  Once everything is in order, the application will be presented to the PEZA Board for approval.

Upon approval by the PEZA Board, the corresponding Board Resolution of Approval shall be issued. Thereafter, the Applicant will be asked to complete the submission of requirements such as the SEC registration, acceptance letter or reservation in an economic zone location, Application for the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) with the PEZA Environment Safety Group and payment of the registration fee of P6,000.00. Once this has been complied with, a registration agreement between the Applicant and PEZA shall be drawn up and signed by the parties.  The PEZA registration process ends with the issuance of a PEZA Certificate of Registration coming from the PEZA Director General.

That, in a nutshell, is how to register your company with the Philippine Export Zone Authority or PEZA.
