How must the Ombudsman act on complaints against public officials or employees?
As protectors of the people, the Ombudsman and his Deputies are constitutionally mandated to act promptly on complaints. They must entertain complaints filed in any form or manner against public officials, employees, or government agencies. In appropriate cases, they are also required to notify the complainants of the action taken and the corresponding results. This duty of prompt action and responsiveness is enshrined in Article XI, Section 12, 1987 Philippine Constitution. “SECTION 12. The Ombudsman and his Deputies, as protectors of the people, shall act promptly on complaints filed in any form or manner against public officials or employees of the Government, or any subdivision, agency or instrumentality thereof, including government-owned or controlled corporations, and shall, in appropriate cases, notify the complainants of the action taken and the result thereof.” 06-Mar-26About Nicolas and De Vega Law Offices
