How is privileged information defined under the Data Privacy Act?

Privileged information is broadly recognized and heavily protected under the overarching framework of Philippine evidence law. It refers to any and all forms of sensitive data which constitute privileged communication. This specific legal protection is strictly rooted in the established Rules of Court and other pertinent jurisprudence or laws. The formal statutory definition of this legally immune class of information is found in Section 3 Data Privacy Act. “(k) Privileged information refers to any and all forms of data which under the Rules of Court and other pertinent laws constitute privileged communication.” 22-May-26
