How does the Data Privacy Act define the processing of personal information?

The processing of personal information is defined as any operation or any set of operations performed upon personal data. This broad definition explicitly includes the collection, recording, organization, storage, updating or modification of data. Furthermore, it inherently covers the retrieval, consultation, use, consolidation, blocking, erasure or final destruction of personal information. This comprehensive operational definition is officially established in Section 3 Data Privacy Act. “(j) Processing refers to any operation or any set of operations performed upon personal information including, but not limited to, the collection, recording, organization, storage, updating or modification, retrieval, consultation, use, consolidation, blocking, erasure or destruction of data.” 22-May-26
