How does the constitution ensure the fiscal autonomy of the Judiciary?

Fiscal autonomy guarantees that the Judiciary operates with financial independence from the other branches of government. To ensure this, the constitution mandates that appropriations for the Judiciary may not be reduced by the legislature below the amount appropriated for the previous year. Once these funds are approved, they shall be automatically and regularly released to the Judiciary without delay. This financial protection is strictly provided in Article VIII Section 3 1987 Philippine Constitution. “SECTION 3. The Judiciary shall enjoy fiscal autonomy. Appropriations for the Judiciary may not be reduced by the legislature below the amount appropriated for the previous year and, after approval, shall be automatically and regularly released.” 06-Mar-26
